The Polity[]

Experimental Science Unit[]

Julian Chase[]

Kazu and Chase got off to a relatively rocky start, with the former tank driver making derisive jokes regarding Chase's ability to enforce his orders. Beyond this, Kazu has been shown to have a relatively amicable relationship with his team leader, often prolonging their sparring sessions by taking cheap shots for his mere amusement. As of "Identity Crisis," Kazu refers to Chase as a brother, displaying the familial degree of loyalty that had developed amidst their team.

Yasamin Madrani[]

Kazu has displayed both respect for and occasionally fear of the former Union pilot. He's shown to be horrified by the prospect of fighting her early on in their relationship, something few things have been proven to be capable of.

Cameron MacCloud[]

Upon meeting her, Kazu found Cammie to be childish and insulting with her mispronunciation of his name, but became closer to her during their training, treating her much like a younger sister. Aside from their mutually mischievous personalities, the two bonded primarily over their childhood love of manga despite Kazu's initial comments that manga is childish.

Valentina Romanyszyn[]

Kazu and Valentina were both initially the only seasoned soldiers to join the gen:LOCK program after Chase and Yaz. Both have also displayed skepticism over the execution of the scientific initiative. Kazu was at first confused by Valentina's androgynous origins and genderfluid nature, unsure of what to make of them, but accepted it and continued to work with them nonetheless. Upon sharing minds through the second phase of gen:LOCK; the two shared memories, with Valentina having taken in Kazu's early years in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo, learning to play the guitar to Gekirin songs. Kazu showed reservation and discomfort at opening his mind to someone else, unsure of what to make of this phenomenon. Valentina has been shown flirting with Kazu at times, which typically leaves him confused.

Following the defeat of Sycorax in Japan, Kazu appears to reciprocate Valentina's romantic advances, holding hands with them with a smile during Yaz's address to the Japanese Polity.

The Vanguard[]

Leon August[]

The two share a rough relationship, with Leon's serious demeanor often clashing with Kazu's reckless and cavalier personality. Notably, Leon feels that Kazu needs to control the amount of collateral damage caused by the former tank pilot. After Leon was rendered comatose by attempting to pilot a Holon despite being past the recommended age limit, Kazu expressed concern for his comrade, a change from their rough start.

Miranda Worth[]

Despite a lack of on-screen interactions beyond training, Kazu is quite fond of Miranda, referring to her by the honorific "Sensei-Chan."
