New York City was a Protected Freezone within the Polity, before falling under Union control in 2068 as the Union began its expansion across the eastern coast of North America.
Brooklyn, New York is Chase's hometown and is where his mother, Roberta, and sister, Driana, used to reside. It remains unknown of their whereabouts after the violent takeover of the city by the Union military.

Battle of New York City[]
During a Polity summit in New York espousing the need to push the Union back through diplomacy, the summit building was attacked by Nanotechnology and the Union forces violently invaded the city. The Union was able to overpower the Vanguard's forces and drive them out of the city, though it would only lead to resistance units throughout Union territory in response.
